This body of work documents my journey to the damaged country of Tunisia. Growing up I would visit the country with my family every year, falling in love with the culture, people and history with the last time we visited in was 2014. Planning to return in 2020 but Then, the country shut its doors in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic, I couldn’t visit the place I loved. In 2024 I was able to return to Tunisia as a young adult, when I got there, I soon realized the condition that covid-19 had left in its wake.

‘I remember the streets thriving not just with tourist but locals this time it felt like a ghost town’

In this series of work, I walked through the streets being disheartened by the condition of the country. In this reaction to the damage, I took these series high contract black and white images, that documented the streets.  The reason for the use of black and white I felt that taking away the colour in these images, would keep the abnormal atmosphere that I was experiencing with in these frames. When leaving I felt as if I had only scratched the surface on what is happening within the country. I only hope that in the future I can return with the country going through a regeneration and a rebirth.
